Starting therapy is often harder than the therapy itself — mostly because nobody quite knows what's supposed to happen in that first meeting. Here's the plain version.

Before we meet

You'll fill in a short form with basic details and, if you'd like, a line or two on what's bringing you in. You don't need to have the "right" words for it yet.

The first 20 minutes

The initial consultation is short and low-stakes on purpose. I'll ask what's going on, what you've tried already, and what you're hoping therapy could do for you. You're welcome to ask me anything too — about how I work, my experience with a particular issue, or what a typical course of therapy looks like.

Deciding whether to continue

At the end, we'll talk honestly about fit. Not every therapist is right for every person, and that's fine — if it doesn't feel right, I'm glad to point you toward someone who might be a better match.

If we continue

We'll agree on a rhythm, usually weekly to start, and set a loose sense of what we're working toward — even if that shifts as we go. The rest unfolds session by session.

Working through this on your own is hard.

A first consultation is free, and there's no pressure to continue.
